My Supernova
06:06
|
|||
It was first or second grade
I can’t remember which
All I know is I had a teacher back then
We decided was a witch
She made us dress up as the planets
To understand the solar system
I learned that the world revolved around me
See, Timmy was Saturn, I was the sun
I knew right then I was going to be a star
Jack’s old man
Doesn’t drive a mini van
The rich kid’s claim to fame
Traveling in a shining Mustang
Well Jack, I won’t have to hitch a ride
To taste the higher life
See the hounds of Hollywood
Know whose scent to follow
I can see it now
A blinding flash of red hot light
This is my supernova
You better hold on tight
I was almost nineteen
Taking a class in Astronomy
Studying how the stars aligned
Method for my first movie
The story of a space odyssey
I was captain Wolf of the spaceship Brave
A spitting image of his sparkling deck
Addicted to a sense of adventure
Not to mention transcendent love affairs
With Harry, Luanne, and Sue
And that green alien from X5-2
By age ten
I thought I would have a mansion
But I wasn’t getting any younger
Even with the clothes I threw asunder
I was growing tall, dark, and handsome
Biding my time with a seductive smile
In the checkout lanes of every store
On the cover of a model magazine
I can see it now
A blinding flash of red hot light
This is my supernova
You better hold on tight
A storm of cameras and microphones
Will stalk me down the red carpet
For at least the seventh time
Then I’ll go out with the biggest bang
No one will forget my name
An overdose of cocaine

Any Day

And so it goes any day of the week
We might gather and hear him speak
Speak about his master plans
And of Burning Man and Amsterdam
But any day they could come down
Any day they could come down for you
That could be fun if it wasn’t so dangerous
But I think the vote is in on this
We’re gonna stay and watch the satellite
With its pretty lights piercing the night
Thinking any day they could come down
Any day they could come down for you
He’s got that glint in his eye again
Wheels in his head are turning
…is that how you eat your food?
I gotta say it’s a bit crude
And anyone else might find it rude
But I hope you are not misconstrued
Because all in all you’re a pretty cool dude
Oh, oh, oh
He’s disappeared from our sight again
Is he still in Michigan?
Any day they could come down
Any day they could come down
Any day they could come down for you
Any day they could come down
Any day they could come down for you, it’s true

In the middle of the morning
In the middle of the street
Sleepwalker can’t help it
He’s got to move his feet
Now I know it’s hard to dream it
And it’s harder to believe it
But he’s always said there’s a map in his head if only you could see it
No he don’t need to rest
He’s got his sunglasses on
He’s got his sunglasses on
He’s got his sunglasses on
Some will pass him once
Others will pass him twice
One thing is for certain
His every move does entice
Now I know this avenue
It’s named after you
And if that’s your excuse to be on the loose well, I admire you
Yes he’s better than the rest
He’s got his sunglasses on
He’s got his sunglasses on
He’s got his sunglasses on
He’s got, he’s got, he’s got his SUNGLASSES
